Orient EuroPharma Expands Pharmaceutical Licensing Partnership with Japan’s Maruho to 10 ASEAN Countries, Advancing Its Presence in Asia’s Hyperhidrosis Treatment Market

TAIPEI – Orient EuroPharma Co., Ltd. (OEP; TWSE: 4120) announced that, following its licensing agreement with Maruho Co., Ltd. (Maruho), a Japanese pharmaceutical company with more than a century of history and deep expertise in dermatology, for the Taiwan rights to the hyperhidrosis treatment Rapifort in January 2026, the two companies have further strengthened their strategic partnership by expanding the licensed territory to 10 member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The expanded collaboration supports OEP’s continued development of its dermatology prescription drug business across Asia.

Deepening the Partnership with Maruho: Expanding into 10 ASEAN Countries

The additional licensed markets comprise Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar. The two companies will combine Maruho’s R&D and clinical expertise in dermatology with OEP’s operating experience and local resources in Asian markets to advance the development and commercialization of Rapifort in the newly licensed territories, further strengthening their long-term strategic partnership.

Introducing a Japanese Hyperhidrosis Treatment to Address Clinical Needs in Asia

Rapifort is a topical prescription medicine for primary axillary hyperhidrosis. Its active ingredient, glycopyrronium tosylate hydrate, reduces sweating by inhibiting cholinergic signaling to sweat glands. The product is already marketed in Japan. Through this regional licensing collaboration, OEP aims to progressively introduce this Japanese dermatology treatment to Southeast Asian markets, offering physicians and patients additional treatment options.

Leveraging Regional Operations to Expand OEP’s Presence in Asian Pharmaceutical Markets

OEP has an established presence in the pharmaceutical markets of Taiwan and Southeast Asia, with operations in the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and other countries in the region. Through this expanded licensing collaboration, OEP will leverage its existing overseas operations and local partner networks to advance product registration and commercialization in phases, taking into account each country’s regulatory requirements and market characteristics, while further strengthening its dermatology prescription drug portfolio.

OEP stated that the expanded partnership with Maruho reflects its strategy to evolve from a Taiwan-focused business into a regional pharmaceutical commercialization platform. Going forward, OEP will continue to combine the R&D capabilities of international pharmaceutical partners with its cross-border operating strengths to expand its presence in Asian pharmaceutical markets and support the Group’s medium- to long-term growth.
